Targets Airport Metal Detectors Can Catch
Metal detectors are seen at every airport. As much as they are loved by the government and all other regulating bodies they are dreaded by citizens who have to pass through them. There is no knowing when a metal detector can go off and there are so many objects that can trigger the alarm. Also increasingly the security regulations are changing and people do not bother to read the guidelines given by TSA before the start travelling.
This results in long queues with people getting annoyed and flights getting delayed. While it is important to remember to pack your things properly in your carry on it is also important to remember what things are allowed on the carry on. It gets really annoying when you have to open your bag and remove items because they are not allowed.
There are times when items that are generally permitted are also removed because they trigger the alarm or are tempered with making them not as harmless as you thought they were. It is advised that all items that are in the pockets are removed before you step through the detector as any metal item can send the alarm off. If you are wearing bulky jewelry or carrying keys or coins in addition to a wallet, cell phone, belt and other accessories it is best that you put all things on the basket before you step through the detector.
There are times when body piercings go undetected and there are times when they are detected. If there are a lot of piercings than you might set the alarm off and you will be asked to remove the studs. There is a possibility that a physical pat-down is conducted in private.
Items that are easily detectable by the security metal detectors include but are not limited to: razors, scissors, knives, and ice picks, box cutters, sporting items like baseball bats, golf clubs, bows and arrows, guns explosives. These items are best left in the back that will be checked in. If there are still doubts of the items that you can carry, ask the local airport authority if the item you are carrying will be considered harmful or not.
