Acing Male Model Casting Calls

Thursday, December 20, 2012
So, you are going for a casting? Hooray! You can now celebrate because things are finally moving. It is a well-known fact that the modeling industry is very tough to penetrate and many people give up without breaking even. Male modeling is harder because the industry is constantly expanding, but it is equally rewarding when compared to female modeling.
Before you show up at an interview, it is mandatory to ensure that you have adequately prepared yourself and you have everything needed. It is advisable to act maturely all throughout so that the prospective client does not view you as kid who is excited hence may fail to perform. This is mainly why you need to avoid any signs of immaturity such as giggling and giddiness. Once you have confirmed the time & date that the casting is going to take place, the next thing that you will be required to do is carry everything that the client expects from you. This means that you need to place all these things at one place in ample time so that you avoid forgetting something important as a result of last-minute rush.

Get a professional to take your photos so that you can present a great portfolio to your prospective client. It is advisable to check out the website of the client that is holding the casting so that you can be more familiar with what they expect from you. This will work well to your advantage when it comes to putting together the portfolio. The actual interview will be similar to any other interview. You need to arrive at the place early enough properly dressed. Most agencies usually want casual wear which means that a pair of jeans, simple but vibrant top and low healed shoes will suffice.
Your hair needs to be normal, but make sure that it does not cover your face too much. In addition to this, avoid wearing make up because the client usually wants to see you raw so that they can know how they will work with you. A good posture will help a lot so practice it frequently and avoid slouching at all cost since this can easily cost you the position. When shaking the hands of the interviewer, do so firmly while maintaining eye contact. Smile a little. Do not let your eyes wander around while showing excitement because this will make you look immature so act professionally all throughout the interview.
All in all, give honest answers and maintain a clear voice that is audible when speaking. Now that you know what to do, go get them!
